We are forming a group of concerned Westwood residents to take practical action on environmental problems at both a personal level and at a community level.
We are concerned about climate change due to carbon dioxide emissions, pollution and resource depletion.
We wish to promote energy and resource conservation, renewable energy, water conservation, green buildings, more efficient vehicles, tree planting, recycling and environmental education.
We hope to collaborate with other groups in town as well as with similar groups that are forming in neighboring towns.
As our first project we would like to join the EPA Community Energy Challenge program which has a goal of reducing energy use in town buildings by 10%. If we are successful we will significantly reduce CO2 emissions and save the town some money. Needham and Dedham have already joined this program.
